“Parsing” the resort of Marsa Alam – sea, hotels, experiences
Hotels in Mars Alam I baked in 2019. And in October 2020, a new charter program to the resort started – every Saturday on the wings of UIA. And it is a great opportunity to see in person the most beautiful beaches of Egypt and swim with the sea cow – the dugong. And believe me, it is worth it.
Features of the resort
Marsa Alam, formerly a fishing village, is the fastest growing resort in Egypt. The construction of 4 and 5-star hotels is in full swing, and many of them are already taking their dear guests – tourists. But the full infrastructure with an abundance of nightlife has not yet had time to create, so fans of noisy discos and parties are better to choose another place for recreation. The main thing that attracts tourists to these places is the pristine nature of the Red Sea. The main excursion program is also built on visiting natural reserves and various entertainments in the local desert.
Port Ghalib and its promenade
What is Marsa Alam
- About 250 km from Marsa Alam is the city of Luxor with its most famous ancient sights.
- This resort is less protected from the wind than Sharm El Sheikh, but in the heat this factor will be more of a plus.
- There is almost no infrastructure outside the hotels, so all the life goes on the territory of the hotels. The exception is Port Ghalib area – a promenade for tourists, where it is beautiful in a European way and the town of El Kousseir.
- The resort is not suitable for those who like noisy parties and discos. But it can appreciate those who came here for a quiet holiday away from the bustle of the city.
- Many hotels have sandy entrance to the sea and a vibrant, bright coral reef, which is a rarity for more popular resorts in Egypt – Sharm el Sheikh and Hurghada.
The Three Corners Fayrouz Plaza Beach Resort 5* – the hotel has a house reef, with the entrance can be from the pontoon, but there is a small area cleared of coral, all rooms overlooking the sea. The main thing is that the hotel is close to the marina in Port Ghalib and not far from Abu Dabbab Bay, where the famous sea cow (dugong), about which the legends are told.
Steingerberger CorayaJaz Solaya/ Madina/Lamaya/Samaya is a complex of hotels. What these hotels have in common: the beach, you can use and walk around all areas, but the pools are only in your hotel. The internet in the lobby and in the room is average, if high then pay 26 euros for 7 nights.
The water park of 13 slides (7+5) with heating for all hotels is included in the price, the water park is under construction still. The closest to the Madina water park.
Going into the sea is sandy, but the beaches are areas of coral. The best entrance to Lamaya and less windy there too. Room design all hotels are the same. This group can be described as family hotels with good service, large common area and a water park.
Hotels in El Kousseir
The peculiarity of hotels in El Kuseir area is that it takes about an hour from Marsa Alam airport, and 1.5 hours from Hurghada. There is also a lack of infrastructure nearby, so it is suitable for a quiet and romantic holiday.
Beach at Movenpick Hotel
Flamenco Beach & Resort – a complex with common infrastructure, which includes hotels Flamenco Resort 4 * (second coastal line) and Flamenco Beach & Resort (located on the shore of the Red Sea). Of the pluses – a sandy beach with a beautiful coral reef, five pools, including children’s pools and heated in winter, restaurants, bars, children’s club, as well as Spa-center with a gym. The hotel is suitable for quiet rest away from the bustle of the city, as well as for fans of snorkeling and diving.
Albatros Sea World Marsa Alam is a hotel that has already won the hearts of many of our tourists. A modern, squeaky new hotel (2018), the beach, the reef is excellent, comfortable rooms and impeccable service. And also – 18 pools and a water park (4 slides for adults and 15 for children). All this will make the holiday unforgettable.
Novotel – everything is for the guests, and the hotel is set up so that no one disturbs anyone. The length of the beach – 630 m, the reef is beautiful, sandy approach cleared, the pontoon 220 m. There are all the facilities for people with disabilities. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel, believe me – this is a rarity and rather an exception in the hotels of Marsa.
Brayka and Royal Brayka – soulful hotels with magical views: palm trees, flowers, lagoons – all for spectacular photo shoots and an unforgettable vacation. Royal is simpler, though it has a pontoon and a reef. Brayka has a lagoon, a paradise for children. Here is the most beautiful reef in Egypt. Good promenade along these two hotels with tall palm trees. Animation is available and everyone will find something to their liking.
Royal Tulip Beach
Magic Tulip and Royal Tulip. It has a small well-groomed area, a wonderful coral reef and high quality service. But the long pontoon can disappoint many people, so it is better to warn tourists about this in advance.
General impression of the resort: deserves attention, first of all, fans of diving and snorkeling. The color of the sea is incredible! The reef and the underwater world – beyond competition with other resorts in Egypt. A hotel, even the economy segment clean and neat, where there is a European service and all conditions for a relaxing vacation.
The reef – that’s why you should come to Marsa Alam. Turtles, dugong (sea cow), moray eels, sea butterflies, octopus, napoleons, dogfish – under the thickness of turquoise-transparent water is a true paradise for lovers of snorkeling and diving. Even in the shallow lagoons near the hotels you can see stingrays and schools of silverfish. It seems that they know no sense of fear and are not afraid of people. Sea cow is an amazing animal that can not be found almost anywhere in the world, except Mars Alam. There are only 12 of them left in the entire Red Sea, so you should go here just for her. The only aquatic mammal in the world that eats grass instead of fry. The giant dugong is almost 4 meters long and you can even pet it!
Diving with dugongs in Marsa Alam
About the weather – the wind will always be less, then more. Therefore, it is better to choose for a holiday in the spring – April, May and early June. September and October – just as a wonderful time to visit Marsa Alam. At this time there is no exhausting heat, daylight hours are long, and in the evening there are no mosquitoes and other annoying insects.
What you need to pay attention to. In Marsa Alam, the sea can “leave,” exposing coral. That is, the tides are pronounced. At low tide, the coastline does not look as beautiful. And finally, the chance to admire and personally see all this beauty, and even at good prices, there is only the fastest. The resort is rapidly gaining popularity and the promo prices our tourists will very soon will only remember.
