Unusual playgrounds for children

The play tower and playground were created by Snøhetta architecture. The play tower consists of four levels where children can climb up a net and climb all the way to the top which is almost 14 meters high.

2. Inflatable Playground in Zlatni Roga, Bol, Croatia

This playground was created by the German company Wibit Sports GmbH, and the author of the project is architect Robert Cirjak. In the playground you can find a lot of swings, slides and play complexes, where children can climb like on a rock.

This is one of 60 playgrounds that the company has placed on the waters of Croatia.

The author of the project the artist Tom Otterness decided to create a playground with 27 bizarre bronze sculptures.

But the central element of the site is a sculpture measuring 7.5 meters in height and more than 9 meters in length. The legs of this sculpture act as slides for children.

This knitted giant alligator was created in 2012 by a Polish architect known as Olek (now living in Brooklyn).

It was installed in a playground in São Paulo, designed by Márcia Maria Benevento.

This playground is located on the hill of the National Arboretum in Canberra. It is worth noting that this arboretum has more than 100 forests with rare species of trees, some of which are on the verge of extinction.

The author of such an unusual playground is a company T.C.L. (Taylor Cullity Lethlean).

8. The City Museum, St. Louis, Missouri.

This museum was originally created by sculptor Bob Cassilly. After his death, the sculptor’s work was continued by a group of 20 artists who called themselves the Cassilly Crew.

As a result, the museum acquired more than 55,000 square feet of playground space, made of recycled airplanes, 2 slides as tall as a 10-story house, several multi-story slides and a Ferris wheel on the roof.

Danish studio MONSTRUM has already built several very interesting and original playgrounds and has become famous for it. This playground includes sculptures of owls, two of which – the king and queen – have a height of almost 5.5 meters.

The same company MONSTRUM built this 15-meter blue whale in Gothenburg. Children can climb into its belly and slide down the slide that starts at its back.

Another work of the architects from MONSTRUM is a playground with two towers. It is worth mentioning that the company was founded by two scene decorators, so all the works of the Danish team have theatrical elements.

Unofficially this site is called the Vail Nests. It is located in Vail, Colorado, and was built by experts from Tres Birds Workshop, as part of a series of parks, created by commissioned guest craftsmen.

The grounds are large wooden nests connected by ropes and bridges.

14. Swing Time, Boston, Massachusetts

This area was temporarily installed near the Boston Convention Center. The author of the idea is the firm Höweler + Yoon Architecture. The play area includes 20 illuminated swings that change their color from white to purple as they are used.

15. Trampolines in the Cave (Bounce Below), Blynaei-Festiniog, Wales

The name of this site can be translated as “bounce below.” It is located inside the Llechwedd Slate Caves and consists of giant trampolines. It is worth noting that there used to be a mine here.
