Kislovodsk is the sunniest resort of Kavminvod, clear weather in the city is about 300 days a year. The city is located in a mountain valley, it is protected from winds and frosts. Drink some narsan at the Narsan Gallery
The gallery resembles a medieval castle, it is made in the form of a key. This architectural idea symbolizes the source of healing water and the key to the city. When visiting the gallery you will taste the narzans and see the main source – a well under a glass dome.

Take selfies at the Cascade Stairs
The grand staircase in the ancient style is an ornament of Kislovodsk. Two cascades of steps are divided by fountains. The stairs lead to the colonnade, it offers a view of the city. Especially beautiful here in summer evenings when they turn on the lighting fountains.
Cascade stairs is one of the entrances to the resort park. It is located on Volodarskogo Street.
Visit the largest spa park in Europe
This is the most popular place for walks in Kislovodsk. Its area is almost 1000 hectares! It consists of 3 zones: the Lower, the Middle and the Upper Park. In everyone there are unique places: in the Upper park there are Small and Big Saddle mountains, in the Medium park there are a lot of rose gardens, and in the Lower park there are a waterfall “Glass Stream”, Mirror pond and rocks Red Stones. The National Park is home to centuries-old trees and more than 250 species of rare plants.
It is impossible to go around the park in one day, take at least 2-3 days to explore it. In order not to miss anything, pay attention to the information board at the entrance: different colors on it indicate the walking routes and their length. Once you have chosen a route, follow the posts of the corresponding color. The posts are numbered, so you won’t lose your way.
Ride the cable car
Kislovodsk ropeway takes you from the Lower Park to the Upper Park. It takes 5 minutes to get to the “Olympic Complex” station. Flying over the centuries-old firs and spruces, you will see the entire park. At the top you can have a bite to eat in a cafe and walk to the mountains Little and Big Saddle. There are health paths in the mountains. You should take some warm clothes with you – it’s quite cool and windy at the altitude.
You’d better go down to the Lower Park on foot, inhaling aromas of mountain herbs and flowers. On the way down you will meet the monument to Mikhail Lermontov. The poet is thoughtfully looking into the Caucasus mountain range.
The funicular railway works all year round, you can get there by the bus №27 (get off at the stop “Sanatorium n.a. Dimitrov” and walk 700 m upwards).
Walk in the Valley of Roses
Rosarium with an area of 3 hectares gathered varieties of roses from all over the world. From May to October roses bloom in the Valley of Roses soft pink, milky white, terracotta and scarlet. The flowerbeds are staggered, so you can walk up to them to admire them and take pictures. In addition to the magnificent flowers in the rose garden there is a funny statue of a crocodile. She is adored by children. You can get to the park by bus №21 or on foot from the Narzanaya Gallery by the walking path-terrenekur.

From the Lower Park to the Middle Park, you will ascend a long staircase. There are actually fewer steps, but at the top it feels like at least 1,000. Along the way, there are viewing platforms with benches to catch your breath among the fragrant pines. The stairs start at the Ladies’ Folly Bridge and lead to Pine Hill. There you will find an observation deck and a cozy cafe “Tea House”.
Look into the eyes of Lermontov’s demon
At the beginning of the National Park is a monument to M. Y. Lermontov. The place is called the Lermontov Playground. There, under the bas-relief of the writer, lurks the main character of his poem “Demon”. The winged character is imprisoned in a cave. The mystical figure leaves an indelible impression. Especially at night: thanks to clever illumination, the eyes of the Demon light up red flames.
Visit the Yaroshenko Museum and the Chaliapin’s Dacha
The estate, where the artist Nikolai Yaroshenko lived, is called the “White Villa”. It remembers the visits of Mendeleev, Repin, Rachmaninov and Stanislavsky. In addition to Yaroshenko’s paintings, you will see originals by V. In addition to Yaroshenko’s paintings, you can also see originals by Perov, Savrasov, Makovsky, Levitan, Polenov, Grabar and Vasnetsov.

“Chaliapin’s Dacha is a mansion that the artist’s family used to rent for the summer. Now there is a music museum. The mansion has preserved the decor of the early 20th century: the ceilings are decorated with stucco and the rooms are furnished with antiques. The exposition displays personal belongings of Fyodor Chaliapin: music notebooks, photos and documents. Chaliapin Seasons song festival is held in the museum every year.

During the warm season a water-music show is held on the Kurortny Boulevard. Brightly illuminated 15-meter fountain jets soar into the evening sky. Beautiful instrumental melodies accompany the performance. The area around the fountain is landscaped, so you can watch the show from the comfort of a bench. Advice: come to the fountain in advance to get a seat.
In Kislovodsk it is worth trying something that you can’t find in other regions: Caucasian cheeses and bread from the oven, dried meat basturma, mountain honey, nut paste urbech, spices and seasonings of Caucasian cuisine, home wines, grape vodka chacha, nut jam, herbal teas and sweets for them (figs, pahlava, churchela, halva, rahat-lukum). Local pastries deserve special attention: Ossetian pies, khychins and kutabs. They come fried or baked, with potatoes, cheese, beans, herbs and meat. They are usually accompanied by a fermented milk drink, ayran, which is thick and sour and very healthy.

The city in the south of the Stavropol Territory got its name because of the sources of sour mineral water – narzan. In order to appreciate the taste of the healing drink, start your acquaintance with Kislovodsk from the famous Narzanaya Gallery. Try the general, dolomite and sulfate narzanes!
To the south of the gallery, near the elegant Colonnade, begins the territory of the Spa Park . Spend at least a couple of hours in the big green oasis with paths of the health track. There is a wonderful view on Elbrus from above!
After the park go look at the pictures in the house-museum of artist N.A. Yaroshenko, and then along Peace Avenue walk to St. Nicholas Cathedral. Nearby is a public garden with the Eternal Flame, the Kislovodsk mosque and an interesting museum “Fortress”.

The main tourist street of the Caucasian resort arose in 1803. The luxurious boulevard runs from north to south through the city center and is 500 meters long. This elegant architectural monument has been decorating the entrance to the Resorts Park since the beginning of the last century. The Neoclassical colonnade was built for the 100th anniversary of the victory over Napoleon. It looks like a well-groomed botanical garden and is divided into Old, New and Mountain parks. St. Nicholas Cathedral
The golden domes of the main Orthodox church of the city on Prospect Mira, 19, can be seen from afar. The first wooden church on this site appeared in 1803. The five-domed stone cathedral was built at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries. In the 1930s it was destroyed, and in the 1990s it was rebuilt. The modern church rises to a height of 54 meters and can accommodate up to 3,500 worshippers. Entrance to the church is free.

Temple of Panteleimon the Healer
One of the Orthodox attractions of the city of Kislovodsk stands on Lenina Street, 3a. The first church of Panteleimon was built in 1912. During the Soviet era, the church was closed and the building was used as a dormitory, clubhouse and boiler room. In 1965 it was demolished.
The new church was built in 2002 in the old Russian style. The red and white church with a hipped bell tower looks very smart. It works and is open from morning to evening for believers and tourists.

Glass Stream Pavilion
Since the end of the XIX century the Lower Park of Kislovodsk is decorated with an original elegant pavilion of complex design with colored stained glass windows. The water, which flows out of the Mirror Pond, forms a wide transparent stream. The beautiful place is interesting to see in Kislovodsk in the fall, when the trees around are dressed in yellow and orange leaves.

Castle of guile and love.
A restaurant and hotel in the form of a medieval castle is an attraction that lovers of beautiful photos come to see in Kislovodsk. The jagged walls and lancet windows blend harmoniously into the mountain landscape. Stylized fortifications stand under the high rocky cliff on the outskirts of the city, near the river Alikonovka. Artist Yaroshenko Museum
The famous Russian artist-Peredvizhnik lived in Kislovodsk, so a memorial museum is opened in his manor on Yaroshenko Street, 1. At the elegant White House you can see graphic works and paintings of Yaroshenko, other famous painters of the XIX-XX centuries and modern authors. The entrance costs 150 rubles.
The historic sight of the city of Kislovodsk is located on a hill, on Prospekt Mira, 11. Unusual museum – reconstruction of the first fortification, which was built in the foothills of the Caucasus more than two centuries ago. There are more than 89 thousand exhibits – findings of archaeologists, ethnographic collection and military relics. The entrance costs 200 rubles.

A small museum on Zhukovsky Street, 12 is a unique space collection, the only one in the south of the country tells about national scientists who devoted their lives to cosmonautics and rocket production. Admission costs 100 rubles.

What to see in the vicinity of Kislovodsk
We strongly recommend to visit this beautiful place! One of the most impressive views in the Caucasus awaits you there.
A precipitous mountain plateau 2592 meters above sea level is one of the best views of Mount Elbrus from the north. Jeep tours are organized for tourists to Bermamyt. Admire the panorama of the Caucasian peaks and breathe the clean mountain air. To see the sunrise on Elbrus, leave Kislovodsk 3 hours before sunrise. Early rise is worth the spectacle that opens from the mountain plateau.
You can get to the plateau on your own in a good off-road vehicle, but be sure to read about the road in detail, soberly assess your strength and take into account the weather. The team of our site went to Bermamyt twice, but once we were not lucky enough to get stuck in the mud just a couple of kilometers to the summit – luckily, another crew helped us.
It’s much easier and safer to go to the Bermamyt plateau with a tour, there’s plenty of choice:

A popular attraction 10 km from Kislovodsk is located in the valley of the river Alikonovka. High rocks, streams of water and a steep path along a narrow canyon await you. For an entrance to waterfalls take 60 rubles. The cab ride both ways takes no more than an hour. In our opinion, it is better to come to Honey Falls in the spring and summer.
On the road to Honey Falls, a sandstone mountain with a natural opening overhangs the valley. The ring, 8-10 m in diameter, was formed as a result of weathering. From the mountain offers a wonderful view of Kislovodsk, Dzhinalsky ridge and Mount Elbrus. You can get to the foot by cab, minibus № 19 and the bus that runs from Kislovodsk to Uchkeken.

The Valley of the Narzans.
At 34 kilometers to the south of the city of Kislovodsk is a beautiful tract, where about 20 mineral springs. Through the Valley of therzan flows the river Hasaut. We advise to visit this place in winter. During the cold season, the side tributaries of Khasaut freeze and turn into wonderful ice pillars, and from the snow-covered Shidzhatmas plateau, on the way to the tract, you can see Elbrus perfectly.

Thermal springs 38 km from Kislovodsk are popular with locals and tourists. The warm water relieves fatigue, treats rheumatism, bone and joint diseases. Bathing in Suvorovsky baths for one hour costs 350 rubles.
From Kislovodsk to Essentuki only 22 km, so tourists gladly go to the neighboring city by bus, train and cab. In Essentuki visit the local Museum of Local Lore, take a walk through the luxurious Spa Park and drink mineral water in the tanks of Europe’s largest drinking gallery “Five Thousandths”. The city, which is easy to go on your own, is located near Kislovodsk. The road to Pyatigorsk by bus or train takes less than an hour. The Caucasian resort is famous for its pleasant architecture, delicious mineral water and green parks. Another pearl in the resort necklace of KVM is located 42 km from Kislovodsk. Tourists take tours to Zheleznovodsk, but we advise you to go there yourself. In this small and cozy town with a population less than 25 thousand people are treated with mineral waters, forest air and mud of Tambukanskogo lake. The reserved tract on the way to the northern foot of Mount Elbrus is one of the natural sights, which is interesting to see in the vicinity of Kislovodsk.
