The first manufactories, where skilled craftswomen created canvases and spun yarn, appeared in Ivanovo in the 17th century. To this day, the flag and emblem of the main city of Ivanovo region depicts a girl with a spindle and spinning wheel.

Historians are still unable to establish the exact date of foundation of the village of Ivanovo. There is no clarity on the roots of the name of the city. But the generally accepted version is the origin of the name of the settlement from the church of St. John the Baptist built long ago on these lands, although documentary evidence of such a temple has not been found.

Choosing what to see in Ivanovo in 1 day, first of all we recommend to start with Shudrovskaya tent. It is necessary to see both sides of the building. One side is brilliantly decorated, while the other is plain in appearance. From there, it is worthwhile to head to Fokin’s manor. Tourists spend at least 2-3 hours to see it. The estate is large and covers a quarter of the neighborhood, so we advise you to take some food and water. The wrought iron gate at the entrance itself is also an architectural heritage.
