Lago-Naki Plateau

Fisht Mountain

Svyato-Mikhailo-Afonskaya desert

Located in the village of Pobeda, founded in 1877. Men’s monastery thrived and received pilgrims. It had an important shrine – a part of the Holy Cross. Caucasus Biosphere Reserve

It extends over 280,000 hectares on the territory of Adygea, Karachaevo-Cherkessia, and the Krasnodar Territory. It got its present status in 1924. Mixed surface relief is rich in mountains and caves. About 1/5 of all plants are rare species. Landmark places: a grove with yews, growing here for hundreds of thousands of years, and cordon Laura, where there are many cages with deer, bison, foxes and other animals.


Big Azish Cave

Located on the border of Adygea and Krasnodar Krai. It was discovered in 1911 and became a tourist attraction in 1987. 220 out of 690 m are available for inspection and well equipped: decking, light, handrails. The five halls are quite full of stalactites and stalagmites. They grow into columns and some have separate names. It is a natural monument. To the entrance to the Small Asishin Cave is 50 m.


The Meshoko Gorge

Devil’s Finger Rock

It was opened in Maykop in 1925. The way to a full-fledged museum was long, and in the first years of its existence you could manage to keep going thanks to the enthusiasm of some individuals. They gathered a rich ethnographic collection, traced in detail the role of Adygs (Circassians) in the history of the country and preserved many ancient traditions. The exhibition consists of costumes, items of folk art and everyday life, as well as archaeological finds.


Dakhov Bridge

Located in the village of the same name. It was built across the mountain river in the early 20th century. It was built by rebel Cossacks, who were not exiled to Siberia and were left in Adygea for hard work. The bridge was actively used, but it is well preserved. Arboretum in the village Goncharka

It occupies an area of 150 hectares in the Giaginsky district. It bears the name of the chairman of the collective farm Bukreev, who initiated the creation of the park in 1970. Initially planted only local trees, and then received seedlings from Sochi arboretum and began experimenting with exotics. At the moment more than 350 species grow side by side. Maikop City Park

It was formed in the center of the city in 1966. Located in the village Guzeripl since 1965. Entrance is paid and first one must go through the main post of the reserve. On the way one can meet dolmens and monuments to warriors. The museum is divided into halls. The first tells about the creation of the reserve. The next deals with local flora and fauna: there are stuffed animals, three-dimensional models, diagrams and reconstructed small fragments of different natural zones.


Bolshoi Tkach Mountain

It is situated on the border between Adygeya Republic and Krasnodar Region. Its absolute height is more than 2.3 thousand meters. Its name is translated as “the eternally young god”. It is a part of the natural park of the same name and together with it is included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The mountain range looks like an uneven jagged wall, the slopes of which are covered with greenery from below, while closer to the tops are bare.


Ammonite Valley

This monument of nature can be seen in detail if you go down to the Belaya River between two settlements: Kamennomostskiy and Tulskiy. Ammonites are fossils, left from ancient mollusks, which became extinct along with dinosaurs. Their spiral-shaped shells of impressive size are scattered everywhere. There are other shaped stones, reminding: once Adygea was hidden under the waters of the ocean.


Granite Gorge

It is located near the village of Dakhovskaya. Its length is about 4 km, and its width is about 200 m. There are many places of interest in the area, such as the Golden Spring or the Trident Mountain. To view the gorge is more convenient from one of the natural viewing platforms. Especially beautiful here during the blooming of chestnuts and barberry. In winter, part of the rough stream freezes, which also looks spectacular.


Cossack Stone

It is difficult to pass by this sight of the village Kamennomostsky because of its size: traveling around, you have to go around the stone. The name is explained by one of the legends: the Cossacks moved the rock during the division of land to take more territory. Another name is Maiden: supposedly a girl, disguised as a dzhigit, was the only one who could jump on the rock on her horse.


Sahrai Waterfalls

There are several of them (Mamryuk, Mankin’s Noise, etc.) and are located near the village of Ust-Suhrai. The most famous of the group is called Rift. The area around is suitable for gatherings, there are gazebos. During the summer, there are ticket offices, and one has to pay to see the waterfall, otherwise, the entrance is free, but the water in the lake formed by the waterfall is cold and you can not swim.


Monk Mountain

Belongs to the Maikop area. The height is about 500 meters. The top is flat, which distinguishes the natural object on the general background. There is a spring and grottoes, as well as the remains of ancient masonry and dolmens. The outlines of the mountain from a certain angle resemble the face of a wrinkled stern old man, so it was chosen such a name. The Rock of the Schism.

Location – the village of Hamyshki. The height of the walls – up to 100 m, the width of the rift – from 2 to 8 m. The geological monument is visible among the forest. After the earthquake many years ago, a huge crack went through the whole rock, and now one of the parts has moved away from the base and looks like a separate formation. The Bzykha flows below, and waterfalls up to 5 m high have formed on it.


Lake Psenodah.

This lake occupies a part of the Lago-Naki plateau. Its outlines resemble a wide smile. Its length is about 150 m and width is about 70 m. The average depth is less than 1 m, though there is a deep sinkhole closer to the south-western part. Through the intermediary springs Psenodakh is fed by waters from Fisht. Since 2012, a special protective regime is imposed near the lake, in order not to let the hikers finally ruin the local ecology.


Canyon of Tsitse River

Most often hikers build a route from the lake Psenodah. There are few tourists, as it is not easy to get to the place. To look around and take beautiful pictures, you have to move directly along the riverbed of the Tsitse. For this reason, it is better to come to the canyon at the end of summer, when the water level is lowered, and it is still warm. Along the banks of a lot of boulders, there are grottoes, and the snowflake even partially overlaps the current.


Khadzhokh quarry

A place of former extraction of limestone and other rocks near the village of Kamennomostsky. The bottom of the abandoned quarry is covered with small springs, which eventually formed the Red Lake. The water is clean and invariably cold. And the specific color comes from the rocks and fossil outcrops. In the vicinity is a traditional tourist race. Pshehsky waterfall

It was formed between the mountains Fisht and Pshekha-Su. Outwardly divides a single mountain massif into parts, but flows down the rocks, covered with moss, not deepening into the fault. Dakhovskaya Cave

St. Michael Athos Zakubanskaya hermitage

Orthodox monastery on the outskirts of the village of Pobeda, near the town of Maikop. It was erected by hieromonk Martiry from 1877 on voluntary donations of the Cossacks. During the Soviet years, the monastery was closed and its churches destroyed. Since 2001 the hermitage was transferred to the Russian Orthodox Church, and today is fully restored Trinity Church.
