Communal Bridge

Krasnoyarsk Local Lore Museum is not only an exhibition devoted to the history of the region, but also a full-fledged cultural and educational center, the largest in Siberia and one of the most influential in Russia. The exhibition was founded in 1889 on the initiative of local intellectuals. The modern building of the museum is an Art Nouveau style, reminiscent of an Egyptian temple. Surikov Art Museum

The famous artist V. I. Surikov was born in Krasnoyarsk. Not surprisingly, there is an art gallery named after him. The museum was opened in 1957. The collection contains more than 90 works by Surikov himself, given by his descendants, as well as interior items and things that belonged to the artist’s family.

Literary Museum named after V.P. Astafiev

The museum collection is housed in a picturesque 19th-century mansion made of wood in the Art Nouveau style. It also has Gothic features. Earlier the building belonged to merchant F. Zuckerman. At one time this house was considered one of the most beautiful in the whole Krasnoyarsk. The exposition was created on the initiative of V. P. Astafiev in 1997.

St. Nicholas Steamboat Museum

The steamship is moored to the bank of the Yenisei in the Strelka area. It is a branch of the Krasnoyarsk Museum of Local Lore. The ship was built in 1886 at the shipyard in Tyumen and shipped in parts to Krasnoyarsk. In 1891 the future emperor Nikolay II took her for a ride. In the 1950s the steamship was decommissioned. The museum exposition was launched in the 1970s after the ship was overhauled.

Museum “Victory Memorial”.

The memorial complex is dedicated to the city and region residents who died on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. The clock tower resembles a famous London Big Ben and has got such a nickname for it. The four sides of the structure have large dials 6.5 meters in diameter on its facades. It is interesting that construction of the tower began in the 1970s, but was stopped due to lack of funding. It was finished only in 2001.


The main railway station, housed in a reconstructed building from the 1960s. Like all Soviet buildings of a similar purpose, the structure looks pompous and monumental. Near the station is Privokzalnaya square, where there are three fountains and a 16-meter-high stele topped with a figure of a lion.
