Ringhotel Schloss Tangermünde
Sit on the imperial terrace in the palace garden and look out over the historic old town and the Elbe. At one time Emperor Charles IV was so impressed by this view that he chose the castle as his residence. His plans were ruined; the imperial castle was burnt down by Swedish troops in 1640. It was not until 1902 that the reconstruction of the palace began. Only the castle gate, chancellery, residential tower and moat have survived from the original castle complex. The castle is now used as a hotel. It was opened in 2000 after an extensive restoration.
The entire ensemble, which is grouped around the castle courtyard, offers 36 rooms spread over the main house and the three garden houses. There are no antiques, but there is appropriately stylish decor, a relatively large “Kaisertherme” wellness center with swimming pool, and a rustic restaurant.

Hotel Jagdschloss Letzlingen
The last surviving castle of the German Hohenzollern dynasty in Saxony-Anhalt. Situated in the middle of a vast forested area between Wolfsburg and Magdeburg, in the neo-Gothic castle with the tower, walls and moat of Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm IV built in 1843, Lloslingen Castle was the setting for pompous state hunts – and today serves as “temporary home for business people” and is often a “dream wedding venue” on weekends – the wedding ceremonies take place in the magnificent castle church.
While businessmen hold their meetings and conferences during the day in specially equipped rooms and wedding ceremonies in the church, private guests can enjoy heavenly tranquility away from the hustle and bustle. The castle itself has a restaurant and 28 rooms, which are located in the cavalry house behind the water moat.
If you look east from the Schlosshotel Schkopau, you can admire the lush greenery of the Saale-Elster-Aue nature reserve.
The imposing castle complex, which dates back to the 10th century, was demolished in 1989, then renovated for several years and opened as a castle hotel in 2001. Today it has 54 comfortable rooms and suites, without the patina and ghosts, of course. Le Château restaurant serves excellent regional cuisine based on local recipes.
Romantik Hotel Schloss Gaussig
Chateau Hotel Gaussig belongs to a real count’s family, who attach great importance to etiquette, and to the fact that male guests appear for dinner at the table in the fireplace room wearing tie-dyed jackets. As is the custom, the housekeeper serves tea on a silver tray.
Count and Countess von Brühl-Pohl live with their guests under the same roof, the baroque manor house in the middle of a landscaped park was built around 1700 by their ancestors. During GDR times, professors came here, and after the fall of the wall the castle fell into disrepair. It was then exemplarily renovated by the Count’s family over a three-year period – and not completely renovated and has served as a hotel since 2008 – 17 luxurious rooms, there’s a spa and pool, and creaky parquet floors, select antiques and four-poster beds.
