And even during calm times, the water has different values in different points of the reservoir – due to the complex topography of the bottom and other factors.

The Red Sea is considered the most salty with 41 grams of salt per liter of water. The Dead Sea, which has much higher salinity (300 g/l), is not included in the ranking, because it is not actually a sea, but an inland body of water that is not connected to the world’s oceans.

The Dead Sea has a maximum depth of 306 m and covers an area of 605 km2. Its water temperature is +24°C year-round.
- According to geographical laws, it is not a sea, but a lake, a closed body of water in three countries – Israel, Jordan and Palestine.
- Another name – the Salt Sea – gave it the highest concentration of salts, about 300 ppm. And it is these salts that have made the body of water famous: people come to its shores not to bathe and sunbathe, but to apply mud applications and be treated with mineral salts.
- The name “Dead Sea” comes from the fact that there is no life in it because of the high salinity: only a couple of species of endemic algae survive here.
- The same salinity is the reason that in the water with such a density of drowning is simply impossible: adults can easily lie on its surface and read the newspaper.
The high concentration of various substances leads to the fact that after the baptismal font to take a shower: the remaining salt can cause irritation. And if you stay on the shore for a long time, you may get a headache from hydrogen sulfide fumes.
By the way the local recreational facilities (boarding houses, etc.) may not accept guests with children, since it is not considered useful for every child to be here.
There are some exceptions. One of the warmest seas, the Azov Sea, is located in the temperate zone, but at the expense of its shallow depth (at the deepest point of 14 meters) it is well heated.
