The 11 best beaches in Madagascar. Africa

Vinsky forum

Please advise Ilya. Is there an opportunity of direct flight from Madagascar to the Seychelles? I am deciding a difficult question. I want, after a rather long tour (Kenya-Tanzania-Madagascar), to meet the New Year at the beach all inclusive with a good beach and if possible without corals and waves. What to choose Nosy Be or Seychelles? If Nosy Be, do I need to book a hotel in advance (how long) or can I do it on the spot? Moreover, unsuccessfully trying to see the prices for Air Madagascar in the multi-city section, it keeps dropping out of the system, will the Murundava-Nusi Be flight count as one flight or will it take two flights through Tana?

There are good beaches on Sainte Marie, Nosy Iranja and the Anakao Peninsula. These are all Madagascar.

I can not help you with the flight – google will tell you everything.

Do they compare to Nosy Be? How is it with all inclusive and the availability of seats for the New Year, or should I book in advance?

Going with my spouse to this wonderful island, we want 10 days to travel to interesting places: to the West (Murundava, Tsingi), East to Maamba, and then 10 days to hang out on the beaches of St. Mary and Nat islands.

We are interested in the quality of the beaches, specifically swimming from the shore. We are comparing 2 beaches in Indian Ocean: West coast of Sri Lanka and south of Oman (Salalah).

Everywhere else they say that you can not swim from the shore because of urchins, corals or the tide. In Murundawa on the beach silt because of the river, At St. Mary’s hotels make piers/railways and artificial pools. Well sort of acceptable, but not all of the otleys have it. That leaves the Isle of Nut, like the Bounty there, but also no guarantees.

Swam on St Mary and Nat, on St Mary you have to pick a hotel where there is access to the sea and a sandy beach, expensive hotels have it all. The island of Nat is sandy for half, the other half is rocky, but there are few hotels. You can walk around the island on the shore to make sure it is an island.

I have not been to Murundava yet.

Have you been to Nusi be? If so, what is a good beach in the south? What would be close to the islands(by boat). And besides Andilana beach, no information. I am interested in snorkeling. I would be grateful for your feedback.

I know only Ambatoluka beach in the south of Nuzi Be, it’s fine for swimming but you can also take a snorkeling excursion around the sea and the islets. There are beaches in the west, but I just rode a motorcycle there, invited to take a boat excursion to a nearby island near Ambaro. I haven’t seen snorkel from the shore there, maybe there is somewhere, just haven’t inquired.

There is snorkel from shore on St. Mary’s, Nat Island, and more on Philpointe…

On Andilana is one of the chicest beaches in Madagascar, maybe there is snorkel there, I took a swim and left, there wasn’t much water. The tide is out.

It turns out, as an option, Ambatholuka beach for a dislocation. The islets for snorkeling have studied, the main ones are in the south, although Nosy Be is a small island, if you take the car, you can also live on Andilan, there are good options directly from the owners. And about St Mary’s you interest me, have to consider that option.

There are lots of hotels on Ambatoluk, for every wallet, you can rent a motorcycle and car there and drive around the island. Also bars and restaurants, i.e. nightlife. And then there are the vendors of excursions walking along the beach, offering their excursions, you buy from them or you can go to the agency on the main street and buy it there. The rest of the island doesn’t have the same variety of services, just secluded hotels on the beach with their own restaurant and excursions.

As an option on Nosy Be: beach Ambondrona (hotel Nosy Lodge), photos are on booking.com (photos are real, I rest here now) clean entrance to the water, without urchins, rocks and dead corals, but! the ebb tide begins about 15 hours, the water is turbid a little, but the morning is a nice “wild” beach, with no crowds of tourists

Andilan beach is nice, no doubt, but it is too “commercialized”, with souvenir shops and intrusive sellers.

Madagascar – beaches

Madagascar - Beaches

Exotic Madagascar, which is often called the “vanilla island” in recent years, is becoming increasingly popular among tourists. And it is well deserved, because the island impresses travelers with its interesting history, unique flora and fauna and friendly inhabitants. And more than 5 km of delightful sandy beaches of Madagascar, framed by coral reefs is a great place for family and active holidays.

Top 5 Best Beaches in Madagascar

Let’s find out which part of the island’s coastline is the most comfortable for recreation:

  1. First place in our top five is Nusi-Be, the most visited beach in Madagascar, one of the 20 best beaches in the world. Nusi-Be gets its name, which translates to “pleasantly scented, fragrant,” from the mesmerizing ylang-ylang trees. In addition to the chic snow-white coast, Nusi-Be has to offer tourists fashionable hotels, gourmet restaurants and nightclubs. And diving and snorkeling in the waters of the beach is simply on point.
  2. On the next line is the second most popular beach on the island – Ile St. Mary, surrounded by mysterious caves and a grove of coconut palms. For divers, this place is a paradise, because here you can not only see moray eels, stingrays and sea turtles, but also touch the variety of corals. In late summer, tourists can observe migrating whales. It is worth noting that the beach is on the island of St. Mary, which is on the east coast of Madagascar, so there is a good chance to meet with sharks.
  3. Among the top five is practically untouched, pristine beaches of St. Augustine Bay. Here tourists expect incredible white sand, crystal clear waves and a rich underwater world. For a few kilometers stretched the extraordinary beauty of coral reefs. A small minus is sea urchins, which have recently appeared in the reefs and can cause divers a little trouble. The infrastructure of beach recreation is developed at a sufficiently high level.
  4. Any traveler dreams of spending an unforgettable vacation on the beach of Nosy-Irania, which is in the fourth position. A popular attraction here is a leisurely stroll along the long spit of pure sand that connects two small islands. On the beach there are all conditions for water sports. In the coastal waters you can meet dolphins, leopard sharks and sea turtles. The highlight of the beach is a hotel made of natural materials, Nosy Iranja Lodge.
  5. Completes the top five beaches of Madagascar paradise nature Nosy Kumba, tacitly called the lemurs’ island. It is an attractive place for holidays with children. Until now, the wildlife is still preserved here. The presence of man distinguish only a few villages and a couple of small markets. Snow-white sand, unique flora and fauna, world-class diving, sunshine and friendly locals – what more could you want for a great vacation?
