Program of the tour
Finish: , Victoria Falls.
The group arrives in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. Check in to beautiful hotel. First day of our Grand Tour of Africa. Rest after your flight. Take a walk along the waterfall and soak in its spray!
Those who wish can hike into the state of Zambia and see the waterfall from the other side (optional).
We start the morning with a walk through the Victoria Falls. Then those who wish can jump the bungee from the bridge that connects Zambia and Zimbabwe, lie in the devil’s font right on the edge of the falls (availability depends on the season) or fly over the falls in a helicopter!
After lunch we cross the border into Botswana, an open-air zoo country.
A motorboat safari on the Chobe River awaits us, where you can swim up to the animals and take pictures up close. We will watch hippos, elephants, crocodiles, antelopes and other animals.
A morning in Africa starts well with a safari through the Chobe National Park, home to the largest elephant population on the planet and the largest elephants.
This country is amazing – if in Russia we usually see cows by the side of the road, here elephants and giraffes are often commonplace! After the morning safari we drive through the country and go to the baobab forest. We stay in cabins right in the middle of the baobabs! Delicious dinners, pictures with the giant trees.
We’ll have to get up early, because today we get on safari jeeps and drive to breakfast with meerkats, funny animals that look like little people. Along with the meerkats we admire a giant salt marsh, similar to the Uyuni in Bolivia. At 360 degrees we will see expanses of white salt! In some months the salt marsh is covered by a thin layer of water and then the sky merges with the thin smoothness of the water.
In the afternoon, transfer to the capital of the Okavango Delta. Opportunity for a scenic flight over the delta (optional)
This is the largest inland delta on the planet, which never reaches the ocean. The river splits into 5 branches and dissolves into the Kalahari Desert. It is home to a huge number of animals. All of the big five can be seen here. It’s like National Geographic shows, only live!
Now you have a choice:
- Go on a safari deep into the delta for 24 hours and sleep right in the middle of the animals! You will not have a fence, and you cannot go more than 100 meters away from the camp. Open Jeep Safari.
- Go on a boat safari – Mokoro dolbenkas. Authentic, swampy, meditative. Hiking safaris with local guides.
- Just relaxing in town with comfort – relevant if you need to save money. Read more at the end of the program.
The Bushmen are the indigenous peoples of southern Africa. They have preserved the oldest language on earth, consisting of “tsokaniya,” and they are also a different race – more like Mongoloid than Negroid.
Even though civilization is taking its toll, we will still stop by, talk to them, and learn about their way of life and herbal medicine.
After spending the night at the Bushmen’s, we set off towards a new state – Namibia! We will cross the Kalahari Desert and arrive in the capital, Windhoek. Here we will comfortably stay one night to leave the next day to meet the jewel – the Namib Desert, with the highest dunes on Earth.
Transfer to the Namib Desert. Walk through a small canyon typical of these areas. Meeting sunset overlooking red dunes, lilac cliffs.
Sunrise we go to see the red and yellow dunes. They are some of the highest in the world! Those who wish can take a hot air balloon or airplane ride over the desert (optional).
Then get in jeeps and four-wheel drive into the dead forest, Namibia’s calling card!
After lunch, we head south to the grand Aus Valley with its alien Martian views.
Namibia is washed by the cold Atlantic Current. Penguins and Navy Seals live here. The wind is cold and salty. You wouldn’t even know it was Africa. Today we are going to the small and picturesque town of Luderitz on the coast. We can eat fresh oysters and drink champagne. If the weather is favorable, we can take a catamaran to the Penguin colonies (optional).
Also that day we will visit a ghost town, half covered in sand. It was once home to German diamond miners, but the deposit dried up and the town was forgotten. Now there are abandoned schools, hospitals, and apartment buildings, half-built in sand.
Today we will see another wonder of our Planet – the second largest canyon in the world and the first canyon in Africa. Here you want to stay for a long time, and the views are fantastic and alien.
After the Canyon, a relaxing evening on the banks of the Orange River. Here you can swim, or go canoeing.
And another sea day. We cross the border into South Africa. Here the scenery will start to change, we will drive through rooibos tea plantations, then through wine grounds and orchards.
Today we will stop in the small, picturesque town of Lambert’s Bay. Those who wish can drive to Bird Island (optional), where a colony of 25,000 blue-eyed boobies can be seen in season, as well as some Cape penguins.
Our final move is to Cape Town! In August through September, you can see the valleys drowned in colorful flowers along the roads.
Get ready to explore the bright and picturesque streets of this stunning town. We will drive to the Cape of Good Hope and see the famous Table Mountain.
In the evening, we’ll have a festive, closing dinner!
Before we leave, everyone will be able to spend time as they see fit. Visit Table Mountain, or a wine tour around Stellenbosch (45 minute drive). Or the old French town of Huguenot in and around Franschoek (1 hour drive). For those who want even more adventure, try skydiving, or descending in a cage to white sharks that will be fed meat next to you.
You can walk around the city center, there are ancient buildings, the old botanical garden and parliamentary gardens, you can visit the cultural history museum, planetarium, or other small museums and theaters.
If you would like to stay longer in Cape Town, let us know in advance and we will book you an extra night.
