Traveling to China is about touching and comprehending the depths of the Taoist tradition. An unforgettable experience of visiting temples and monasteries, breathtaking monuments of ancient Chinese architecture, observing the life of small peoples. This is the contemplation of the fantastic beauty of nature and meditation among the clouds in the mountains. The places, where from time immemorial cultivated the knowledge of the harmony of man and nature. We will contemplate the sunrises and sunsets, meditate in the most beautiful places of nature, and everyone will be able to experience the state of integrity and absolute inner peace, which on returning home will remain with you forever.
The program for 14 days + 2 days on the flight. Number of participants: 7-12 +2 accompanying persons. Transportation: trains, buses, cabs, subway, planes, boats, cable cars and our feet. Accommodation: hotels, guest houses 2-3 *, rooms in the monastery. There may be some inconveniences in the mountainous areas and ancient cities. Physical preparation for the trip – readiness to do hiking up to 15km on rough terrain (in the national parks). Long journeys, not always on good roads. Nutrition: In the mountainous areas the accommodation and food conditions are very simple, you should be prepared for some everyday inconveniences on some days of the route. If there are stomach problems, take medicines in your personal first aid kit and not a large amount of hercules. There will always be steamed rice, spicy food is common, we will try to set the table with a variety of food.
Weather: The places we chose are mostly well frequented by “domestic tourism,” that is, the Chinese. There is a dilemma, to face a huge flow of Chinese tourists or choose the low season and prepare for bad weather. If you go in spring, the weather will be: daytime from +6 to +18 (Xi’an, Zhangjiajie). It doesn’t seem to be very cold, but, this is the windiest time. Combined with the humidity in the Avatar mountains, it might not be very pleasant. Moving south of Guangzhou will be warmer to +25, but humid, the climate here is already subtropical. Perhaps it is better to keep warm and avoid the crowds.
Budget: You should expect to spend about 114,500 rubles (all inclusive, including the flight). Let me tell you right away that the biggest expense is transportation, the second is entrance fees to national parks and fees for their internal services.
If you remove from the itinerary Xi’an and the Huashen Mountain, the cost will be reduced by 17 000r (because there will be no domestic flight). What is included in this price and what is paid additionally see below (after the description of the program).
Will the program change? Such variant is possible, for different reasons – closing of the national park, weather, group tiredness or you liked some place too much and want to stay longer. Pre-purchased tickets are the only thing we have to rely on.

Very, very intense route! “Jumping” through different provinces, 5 provinces!
The places we plan to visit: Guangzhou 广 (Guangdong Province) – A huge city where we all fly in. Visiting the city’s temples (Taoist, Buddhist).
Zhangjiajie 张家界 (Hunan Province) – Those famous “Avatar Mountains” or “soaring mountains”. It is a huge area that includes villages, a cave, and Mount Tianmen. Fenghuang 凤凰古城 – A popular place, Phoenix City. An old town with interesting wooden architecture on stilts by the river. Very touristy. A visit to this town could be replaced by a visit to the Tibetan villages. They are not touristy at all. They are located in the “sub-Tibetan”, in the Bipen Gorge, in the Garda Tibetan AO. Zhuokejitusi Village and Toping village.
Xi’an 西安市 (Shaanxi Province) is a large central city. Famous for the Terracotta Army Museum. Huashan 华山 – A popular, revered place. One of the five Sacred Mountains of Taoism in China, it is located in the Qinling Range in Shaanxi Province. (If you remove visiting Xi’an and the Huashan Mountains from your itinerary you will save 17,000 rubles).
Chengdu 成都 (Sichuan Province) – An interestingly large city. The whole province is under the Tibetan plateau. A very interesting place. We will visit the city’s temples. See how the city lives. Qingcheng shan 青城山 – One of the most revered Taoist mountains in China. It is a very attractive and picturesque place, which is covered with lush and green trees. Emei Shan 峨眉山 – Emei Shan is one of the four sacred mountains of Chinese Buddhists along with Putoshan, Utayshan and Jiuhuashan.
Shangri-La 香格里拉县 (Yunnan Province) is a legendary city. Lijiang 丽江 – A very well-loved town surrounded by mountains, flowers, willows. Kunming 昆明 – Administrative center of the most flower and tea province.
Program by day: 1 day. Guangzhou. We meet at Guangzhou airport. Drive to the city. Today we still have time for a walk in Guangzhou and a visit to the Buddhist and Taoist temples. In the evening, a night train ride to the legendary “Avatar Mountains”.
Lujunsu 6 Banyan Tree Temple The Lujunsu Monastery is located in the central part of Guangzhou and is considered the most ancient. Its construction dates back to 537. The monastery was mentioned in a poem written in 1099 by the Chinese poet Su Dongpo, giving it the poetic name of the Temple of the Six Banyan Trees Luzhongsi. Lines from this poetry are at the main entrance of the temple. The temple is also notable for the fact that there are the remains of the Buddha, the founder of his own faith.
Inside the monastery is a holy of holies, a statue of Buddha made of bronze. Visitors to the monastery can touch the statue. According to the believers, those who have touched the bronze Buddha will expect success in all endeavors and excellent health. In addition, in the temple there are the most valuable monuments that tell about life in the old days and are of great historical value.
The stelae in the temple represent the time periods from the Song dynasty to the Qing dynasty. It contains texts recounting the history of the monastery. This place is sacred to people who adhere to the beliefs of the Buddha. They visit it for prayers and adoration before the shrines. Nowadays, the Guangzhou Buddhist Association operates under the rama. Chinese Muslims are also reverent about the traditions of their land and care about preserving the history of the Liuzhongsa Monastery.
Guangxiao Temple. The temple is one of the oldest temples in this province. It has long been a place of Buddhist pilgrimage. Construction of the temple was completed more than 1,500 years ago, however, a number of reports indicate that the temple Guanxiao was among the first Buddhist temples in China and the date of its foundation is much closer to the IV century BC. Thus, according to this theory, the temple was founded long before Guangzhou.
The Chen Family Temple-Museum is a nineteenth-century building now turned into a museum showcasing the folk arts and crafts of Guangdong. It is a national cultural monument of China.
