The hollows are formed on the slopes, and when the snow melts or it rains, water is accumulated in them. Tall coniferous trees grow at the foot of the mountain, and a little higher there is a belt of sparse forest and tundra with its dwarf trees.

Since ancient times, local residents consider Iremel sacred, and come to this beautiful place could only shamans, and today these places are great for summer and winter holidays.

Yamantau Mountain

It is a beautiful and dangerous place, nicknamed “bad mountain” by the locals. This is because the slopes of Yamantau are too steep and the weather is harsh. In addition, a large number of bears roam around the mountain, and meeting them does not bode well.

On the other hand, there is industrial production here, and according to rumors from the CIA, Russia hides its nuclear reserves in the depths of the mountain. Whatever the case, it has nothing to do with the beauty of the highest mountain in the South Urals.

Inzerskie Zubchatki Ridge

A unique set of rocks 10 kilometers long, the “teeth” which reach a height of one kilometer. From some points you can see Yamantau mountain, but it is quite difficult to pass the whole ridge, because a good trail sooner or later ends, and you don’t want to jump on the rocks.

This is a very remote ridge, which was used by the Old Believers, who fled from persecution in these untouched lands. And although they are no longer here, from the monks remained a few cells, which are now a popular point on the map of the ridge.

Speaking of Yamantau. Inzersk is considered a “good” mountain, as opposed to the “evil” Yamantau. Probably because the mountains stand opposite each other, like good and evil, night and light, life and death.

Monument to Salavat Yulaev

What is Bashkiria without Salavat Yulaev? In the capital of the region there is a monument to perhaps the main hero of modern Bashkortostan, poet and fighter Yemelyan Pugachev’s comrade in arms. A hockey club, a city, postage stamps, state awards and hundreds of streets across the country are named after him.

The monument is 14 meters high (with pedestal) and towers over the Belaya River. He raises his hand up, urging his companions to go to war. Considering the deepest respect the Bashkirs have for the poet’s personality, this appeal would still be heard today.

The monument is also worth a visit, because it is the biggest equestrian monument in Europe.

Uchaly Quarry

One of the most famous quarries in the Urals. The history of the Uchaly quarry dates back to the end of the 19th century, when iron ore and mineral dyes were mined here. In Soviet times gold was found, and the work increased in scope. Everyone who could hold a pick was engaged in mining, since the precious metal was literally just a few meters from the surface, and no special qualifications – or tools – were needed in those years.

Opencast mining was introduced in the second half of the last century. Since then, the open pit has expanded both in breadth and depth, until it has reached its current enormous proportions.

Even objects of such a seemingly unromantic activity as deep pits can attract tourists and arouse genuine interest. The popularity is evidenced by the number of people who flock here – just to see what is hidden under their feet.
